I Adopted A Villainous Dad - Chapter 270
“Then, let’s go to a sunny place.” I smiled brightly, grabbing Kais’s hand as I walked.
Kais reluctantly followed me. Unlike me, who was in a good mood, Kais still seemed serious. “Amel.”
“Do you like that kid?”
Who was he talking about? It had to be Hessen… I considered it better to answer honestly; I had a feeling that if I stated that I did not like Hessen because of him, there would be huge consequences. So I honestly answered, “I like him. He makes me look forward to seeing him in ten years.”
Kais suddenly stopped walking, standing completely still. Why did he stop? I paused to turn around and look at him, only to find him gawking at me in shock.
“That…” he muttered, “Only for me… No…”
I did know know why, but in his shock, Kais could not speak properly. Why was he acting that way?
“You’re looking forward to seeing him in ten years…”
“Yes.” Was there any problem? Kais looked at me gravely, his expression so complex that it could not be read easily.
“Don’t worry, Kais. I also look forward to seeing you ten years from now.” I patted him on the shoulder as if to comfort him and walked ahead.
Well, I tried to walk ahead, before Kais grabbed my wrist and pushed against the outer wall of the garden. “When the hell are these ‘ten years’ finally going to get over?”
What was he talking about? Momentarily startled, I blinked and without even realizing it, answered blankly, “…Maybe ten years from now?”
Kais’s face twisted into a frown immediately.

The friendly tea I tried to enjoy with Kais got canceled—not because of the ten year incident, but another problem entirely.
I was trying to apologize because I was unaware that my best compliment, ‘I look forward to seeing you in 10 years from now’, had stressed Kais out, when a white furry rice cake popped up between us.
“Popo!” Listening to his urgent cries, I could tell that something unusual had happened. “Popo! Popopo!”
“Even if you shout like that, I don’t know what you’re saying.”
Popo took me to the glass greenhouse. The moment I got there, I understood why Popo had to come call me. The wolf was running wild.
“What’s wrong with him?” I asked.
“I don’t know, Master.” Gon screeched, “Help me, this b**tard is so powerful!”
“Successor,” said the tiger, “try to stop it!”
Though Gon and the tiger were blocking his path together, they could not stop the wolf guardian’s rampage. The wolf was going feral; it was hard to determine what had triggered him.
“I feel it! The human energy that made me like this… and us…”
I could not help the situation, so I resorted to using divine power, lest the wolf guardian break the glass greenhouse.
“Calm! Down!” I yelled, my voice bolstered with divine power.
The dragon and the tiger held their ears in agony at the sound of my voice. It was the same with Popo.
Leaving the sniffling trio, I approached the wolf, its shoulders drooping with sadness. “Are you okay? Are you calm now?”
The agitated excitement seemed to have subsided, but the wolf still clung to me, his eyes delirious. “Saintess, it’s that energy. The energy of the human who corrupted me and polluted my forest…”
My eyes widened at the wolf’s words. I had been troubled because the investigation I requested Yurbil for showed no progress. “What is that energy? Where do you feel it? You felt it all of a sudden? You’ve only been in the Imperial palace.”
“I’ve been sensing it since yesterday, but now I can feel it much more strongly. It’s an unforgettable energy. I have to find it and get my revenge!” The agitated wolf tried to run away again, and this time Gon and Tiger could not stop him either.
However, Popo jumped out at once and struck the back of the wolf’s neck with its body, knocking him out at once with a thud.
As I gaped at the absurd scene, Popo puffed its chest proudly before coming up to me and rubbing its body against me, hoping for a compliment.
“Yes,” I stuttered, “Well done.”
I supposed it turned out good enough.

I contemplated what the wolf said about sensing the energy since yesterday. Was it someone who came to the party at the Imperial palace? I went to see the grand chamberlain to get a list of the people who entered the palace today.
But when I returned to my palace, a familiar figure ran toward me. “Your Highness!”
“Lana?” I smiled at her, happy to see her again. Was her vacation over? She had gone home claiming that there was something she needed to take care of.
Lana hurriedly grabbed my arm and shouted, “Your Highness, please help!”
What was going on?
